We seek a social scientist working on marine issues, broadly construed, at the local, regional, national, or international level. We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in any social science discipline, or related fields such as law.

This position will be based in the Division of Marine Science and Conservation and located at the Duke University Marine Laboratory, a vibrant intellectual community of social and natural scientist faculty, researchers, and students situated in the coastal town of Beaufort, North Carolina.

The mission of the Nicholas School is to create knowledge and leaders of consequence for a sustainable future. Our focus is on leadership in education, research, and service to understand environmental processes and their human and policy dimensions, broadly framed. The successful candidate will have a highly promising or distinguished record of research, or equivalent contributions to practice, and a demonstrated record or exceptional promise of extramural funding, achievement and leadership in the field.
